Displaced families from North and South Korea
were reunited on Geumgangsan Mountain in 2015.
After being separated for over 60 years,

that brought North and South Korea as one.
It was none other than “Spring in My Hometown,”
one of the most famous folk songs
along with Arirang.
“My hometown was a village in the mountains
with peach blossoms, apricot blossoms and baby azaleas...“
“Spring in My Hometown” was written
by Lee Won-su at the age of
based on the memories of his hometown.
The writer behind the song
would go on to produce around 1,000 literary works
over the course of 50 years.
“There were towering old shade trees,
and azaleas and royal azaleas bloomed on the mountain
behind the village every spring,
while there were beautiful peach and apricot blossoms
seen beyond the stone walls residences.”
“Spring in My Hometown”
It is a national song
that has been echoing in the hearts of 90 million Koreans
from all generations, across time.
