Long ago, people in the region traditionally spent a day with their neighbors, drinking, singing and dancing, after holding a rite to thank the local deities for an abundant harvest and pray for the safety of the village and the villagers’ well-being. This was a way for villagers to build friendships amongst themselves. Based on this tradition, the Changwon Namsan Sangbongje Festival is held on Namsan Mountain in Seosang-dong, which has traditionally been a popular gathering place, as a way to seek the Chuseok traditions of our ancestors. 

Festival period: On the weekend after Chuseok (two-day period)
