“I Want to Go,” a national song of Korea about being homesick

wrote a poem centering on the childhood friends he had in his hometown / and the longing he felt for it, / and it was called “I Want to Go.” /

It is one of the most favorite poems of the people of this nation / and a national song / that is recited and sung / whenever one feels homesick. 

It is a song that brings tears to the eyes / of Koreans living overseas.

One’s cherished hometown / was one’s birthplace, / cradle, / and nurturing place.

It is a sanctuary for the weary soul / and a safe and fragrant nest. / Who can forget one’s hometown / and home country? /
